Who We Are
Paula L. Pedene APR, is a Service Disabled Veteran. Pedene served in the Navy during the Cold War and Desert Storm. After an honorable discharge she became a correspondent in Washington, D.C. for Cox Broadcasting and the U.S. Information Agency covering issues such as the Iran Contra Affair and the release of Nelson Mandela. She was hired by For Veterans Only to serve as an anchor, producer and reporter for this TV show broadcast on PBS. When the show lost its funding Paula became the first full time Public Affairs Officer at the Buffalo VA. Here she quickly gained them national notice by conducting resounding media events and highlighting Veterans and medical research. Her VA career includes assignments at Denver, Phoenix and Washington, D.C. spanning more than 30 years.
In her past experience she has earned numerous national and local awards for her public relations efforts including three Public Relations Society of America’s Silver Anvils, the society’s highest honors.
William K. Pedene M. Ed. Born in Pasadena, California, Bill is a retired Commander in the world’s most powerful nuclear navy and served during the Cold War and Operation Desert Storm. While on sea duty he was homeported in Pearl Harbor Hawaii and was attached to the USS RICHARD S EDWARDS (DD-950), a Destroyer and the USS JASON (AR-8) a heavy repair ship, serving in Operations and Engineering with deployments covering the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans and outskirts of the Persian Gulf.
Bill also served in Washington D.C. at the Naval Imaging Command as Administrative/media officer followed by tours as Executive Officer (XO) of the Naval and Marine Corps Readiness Centers in Buffalo NY and Denver CO. Bill spent time in the Reserves with Mobile Inshore Undersea Warfare Unit MIUW-214 and Commander, Destroyer Squadron 5 and again XO of Readiness Unit Alfa in Phoenix Arizona.
He is qualified as a Fleet Officer of the Deck and a Surface Warfare Officer and holds Navy occupation codes for Film and T.V Production, Public Relations, and Broadcasting Management.
After the Navy, Bill continued with photography and was substitute teacher for about 10 years and has a AZ Certificate in New and Emerging Technologies. Bill is a member of SAG/AFTRA and he holds a BA in Cinema Production from the University of Southern California and a MA in Education from Grand Canyon University.
In the community Bill has been an active leader with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 30; the Knights of Columbus where he is currently the Grand Knight (St. Patrick council was recognized as the AZ Council of the Year 2017). Bill has been providing photographic and administrative support to the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade for many years and is married to the always charming Parade Coordinator Paula. They have two sons both are Eagle Scouts and currently in college.
