U.S. Army Veteran Kovacs Says Military Skills Help Him Create PPE

Chaz Kovacs is a U.S. Army Veteran and the Director of Operations at US POWER AZ PPE’s (POWER PPE) Mesa manufacturing plant. The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provider began production on its POWER3 Smart Masks and accompanying POWER3 Filter inserts in August 2020. Since then, Kovacs has been working diligently to provide high-quality, U.S.-made PPE for all Arizonans.

Kovacs has brought his expertise as an analyst in the United States Army to his work at POWER PPE.

“The military teaches the importance of structure. Transitioning into a civilian factory setting has many similarities to following orders set in place from a chain of command. Each factory component and the machines have a particular goal structured to produce the highest quality product at the highest possible output. A more specialized look comes from my analytical background in the military. Throughout my time in the Army, They taught us never to overlook any detail, no matter how small it may be. This has proven very useful in a setting where quality control and employee cohesion are an absolute must,” said Kovacs.

The POWER3 Smart Mask protects against the transfer of microorganisms by blocking microbial particles, as confirmed by multiple labs in Japan and the United Kingdom, making the mask filters more effective than standard surgical grade masks. They treat the masks with proprietary biocidal technology that works to deactivate viruses.

“Chaz has an incredible dedication to protecting his community,” said Kevin Thorpe, president of POWER PPE. “He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, and now he is serving and protecting Arizonans as we continue to combat the coronavirus.”

POWER PPE has applied for and is currently in the process of securing FDA compliance and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) designation.

“Service to my country and my community is essential to me, and I feel grateful to have this opportunity. Enlisting in the military was something I did, knowing that it is not for everyone, but someone had to do it. This is the same mindset I believe we as a team set here at US POWER AZ PPE. In a day where it seemed people were looking to take care of themselves first, this company was willing to go against all odds to look after the community and country. I’m honored to continue to protect my country, now in a bio-defense role, from a severe adversary,” Kovacs added.
